Our Mission
The overall purpose of the Logan County Weekday Religious Education Association, LLC shall be to provide a weekday Christian education program to guide boys and girls in an understanding of the basic truths of the Bible, without denominational bias.
Weekday Religious Education (WRE) started in 1914, in Gary, Indiana, when the Superintendent of Schools saw a need and asked local ministers to teach about Jesus during school. Logan County WRE has been blessed to serve 3rd & 4th graders of Logan County, OH since 1955, and are grateful for our ongoing relationship with all four local school systems.
Our Mission: To provide a weekday Christian education program teaching the basic truths of the Bible, without denominational bias.
The program was initiated because our predecessors recognized something: no one’s education could be complete without some knowledge of the Bible. We are blessed to be supported by many churches, denominations, and individuals. But there is always more needed. Pray that we can continue in a culture more and more against Christianity and its views. Pray for our teachers and the students, and consider how God may be calling you to partner with WRE. We always need volunteers. Just a few hours a week makes a huge kingdom difference. Or click donate at the bottom of the page to learn how to donate monetarily.
Statement of Faith
We accept and proclaim the historic truths of the Christian faith. We hold that the Lord, our God, is one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures are God-breathed and are our highest authority for faith and life.
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity in accordance with the Holy Scriptures.
How Does It Work?
Permission Required
This is considered a ‘released time’ activity. Parents are given the opportunity to sign a permission card allowing their child to be released during the school day to attend WRE each week.
Limited Time
The program provides 3rd & 4th graders with 25-35 minutes of teaching about Jesus, the Bible, and the Christian faith, one time each week. For many, it is the only formal Biblical instruction they receive.
Mobile Classrooms
Through the generosity of people like you, Logan County WRE purchased its first mobile classrooms in 1974. They were replaced with handicap-accessible versions in 1998, and again in 2009. Our newest classrooms are larger than their predecessors and equipped with ample storage and audio-visual equipment.
Our Amazing Team
Logan County Weekday Religious Education couldn’t happen without our amazing group of people dedicated to teaching the next generation about our amazing Lord.
